With the stress of two house moves in the space of two months I have just discovered insomnia.
Whilst sleeplessness gives you some quiet thinking time and can result in some great ideas, it really isn’t much fun!
And my concealer just isn’t good enough to cover up those bags under my eyes!
Help is at hand, though, with my trusty Dairy Diary. In the 2018 edition there is a fact-packed feature on getting a good night’s sleep.
Here are the top tips:
Wind down
Do something that you find soothing before bed: gentle yoga stretches, take a warm bath or read a good book (though a horror novel may not be a good idea!)
Embrace the dark
Invest in a blackout blind or curtains and turn off any digital devices that emit light.
Restful surroundings
Make your bedroom a cool, peaceful, uncluttered place to sleep.
Empty your head
If there’s something on your mind that may keep you awake, write it down before you go to bed, or make a to-do list to reassure yourself you won’t forget something. Your Dairy Diary is perfect for these reminders, so that you CAN forget.
Routine
Try to go to bed and get up at the same time every day, even at weekends. You may need to set your alarm to achieve this.
